Hi, Roger:

It'll be great to have you out sailing with us again this year. As far as I know, Hans is still going strong - he and I are again sailing the Chesapeake Cruise together at the end of May - and his number remains 905-277-3306. Why not try it again? Let me know what regattas you may be sailing and I'll add you to the list of likely entrants.

Best regards,

Uncle Al  (W3854)

Hi again Al

We, Raewyn (my hunny from New Zealand) and I were thinking of doing the Warm Water, Rock Hall, North Bay, Ottawa, George’s Race and the Pumpkin…

I’ll give Hans another try in the next few days…

Cheers

Roger

Subject: Al's Ten Racing Commandments for Beginners

Hi Al,

I am the newsletter editor for the MSC. I am wondering if it would be OK for us to publish your 10 commandments of racing page in our next edition? It is a great summary, I think out members would find it useful, and I think it may demystify the rules for beginners who are unsure if they should come out and join in.

Many thanks,

Bjug

Sure, Bjug. By all means use it. What is the format of your newsletter, emailed PDF like the Sail & Paddle I do for TSCC? If so, can you add me to your newsletter's emailing list??

Take care. Best regards,

Great! Thanks, Alan! Will put some of these into tonight's Weekly Whiffle.

Best regards,

Uncle Al  (W3854)

(Al's note: All sailors everywhere is invited to attend these free gatherings at the Mississauga SC. This year, mastermind, Gary McIlroy, arranged for a series of none Gatherings, of which three are yet to come - click here for details. The photos below were taken and contributed on Saturday morning at Gathering #6.)

Saturday 12 April was nothing to write home about outside of the Mississauga SC but ...

... it was in fact a perfect day to be inside the club where you could pepper a panel of four experts
(l to r) Uncle Al, Paul Taylor, Dave Daniel and Bruce Buckingham with any sailing-related questions.

But not before MSC's culinary champions served up an hour's worth of delicious breakfast.
Thanks, gang!! It was delicious!!!

I don't remember seeing whatever is on the screen here. All I saw was sailing-related VHS tapes
from the MSC's extensive library - speaking of which, on the left you can see
part of the club's huge collection of sailing-related books which members are free to borrow.

Uncle Al in serious discussion with Bill Taylor, the sire of current Canadian W champions, Mark and Paul

Dave Daniel explains as Paul Taylor and Beth Ruch listen attentively.

A bit blurry but still very deserving of recognition is Gary McIlroy,
the driving force behind four years of these very much appreciated gatherings.

The head table on awaits Paul and then the questions will start.

Uncle Al and Paul discuss the essence of a "good crew".

Each Gathering starts at 10 AM and lasts two hours - with a refreshment break (above) half-way through.
