Hi Al,
I just want to tell you that I've bought Wayfarer # 5220 and It was delivered to my home yesterday. It looks in pretty good shape and I'm very pleased with it so far. I must thank your Association's listings of boats for sale and look forward to meeting you in the future. If you could please arrange for my first year's membership of the CWA I would be grateful ... Once again thank you for your help. Ron Thompson. Kingston. ON -----

Re: new masthead sheave?
Thanks for the info on the sheaves. I've ordered one that looks like it might do the trick. ![]() Kristina skippering W2965 on Lake Mission Viejo ![]() Grandpa and Kayla on Lake Mission Viejo While I'm waiting to sail again I thought you'd like to see what else you can do with a Wayfarer! My wife made a "Jungle Cruise" style top for our W2965 and we went for a little trip around the lake with my grandkids, Kristina and Kayla. Also, you previously mentioned my Pamco trailer. I used that thing to haul my Wayfarer almost two thousand miles back to Lake Mission Viejo from Flint, Michigan. The only mishap I encountered was losing one of the trailer lights in a storm just before Albuquerque, NM. When I got back home with the boat I welded on a new two-inch hitch, replaced all the wiring and lights, installed new hubs, wheels and tires and topped it all off with a new coat of paint. Of course, being careful not to paint over the Pamco sticker! It is now one of the few legally registered boat trailers in California. Jack McCollum W2965 |

Racing A Wayfarer in the
Pacific Northwest
Hey Al,
I actually went sailing again! We did a childcare swap and I went out with my wife; she drives so I can play with the boat! Everything still works but I have some overhauling to do. We went out for race night on Portsmouth ratings, and while we only got one race in and got last, it was still great fun and rekindled old racing fires from college and before kids. Have a good summer! Tim

----- Original Message ----- From: "AllanParry" To: Nick Parker Sent: Tuesday, May 27, 2008 3:36 PM Subject: W sailing Hi Nick I've just been reading your plans for W rallies in BC in Uncle Al's > newsletter. They both sound really good! I didn't know that there were any Wayfarers in western America. I have been coming over to Nova Scotia for the past few years to sail with Jim Fraser in Halifax. This year we plan to do a bit of the New Brunswick coast. Unfortunately this clashes with your 'Club Jed ' event. If, next year you fancy organising an 'international' event I would be very interested. Best Wishes Allan Parry W 7556 Dylan -----Original Message----- From: Nick Parker Sent: 28 May 2008 06:31 To: AllanParry Dear Allan, Thank you for your reply - you are the only one! As you may have gathered, I am in the painful process of trying to build or re-build the Wayfarer Fleet out on the West Coast. That is a bit of an understatement as I am seemingly doing the Pacific Northwest, Yukon, BC Interior, Washington State, Vancouver Island and any other places west of Ontario. To date, I have managed to find about 24 boats but most are not active. Such a pity really as we have some of the best cruising in the world - especially for a Wayfarer. As for your idea of an international cruise it may well be just you and me. However, I am interested. One of my goals is to sail around Vancouver Island in my Wayfarer and the other is to sail to Alaska. We shall see.... Let's stay in touch and brain storm some ideas and places. Tell me what you are interested in seeing. Are there others who might like to participate that you know of? I'd love to get Al out here one year. Cheers, Nick Parker W982 -----

Thanks for your prompt reply. I think there are several people in the UK who would be interested. We can even get reasonably cheap flights to Vancouver with Canadian Affair (eg £300 this June ). Our problem is how to get the Wayfarers in the overhead locker! I'm sure we could also coax some of your N American buddies to come. Again, boats would be the problem. We managed to hire a couple of W's in Nova Scotia one year and have managed to share/borrow boats in rallies on the East Coast. Any chance in BC? Anywhere inside Vancouver Island looks good but I bet the outside bit would be 'challenging'! I lived in Ottawa for a couple of years in the late 60's and rather fell in love with the Country. The only time I visited Vancouver, it rained all the time but we had more luck in Seattle on a cycling holiday around the Gulf Islands. Beautiful area. Best wishes Allan |

Speaking of Wednesday night races, I know that you Canadians occasionally make it down to So. California for Disneyland, etc. so I'd like to offer a standing invitation to join us as crew (or skipper) on my Wayfarer. I'm sure I'd learn something, so dinner is also on me!
