Subject: 2008 International Rally Up Date

Greetings everyone,

We can imagine that some of you are wondering by now what, if anything, is happening.  So we think it is time to give you a preliminary up-date on where things stand.

Counting the names below, you'll see that so far we have nineteen participants registered for the Rally.  Of these, five are European Wayfarers making the journey across the pond to help us celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Wayfarer Class by sailing on the beautiful coast of Maine.  Such a strong turnout is fantastic and a new record for this rally.  We greatly appreciate everyone's interest as well as their willingness to sign up so far in advance.  With such a large number of participants, it will not be difficult to be good hosts to our overseas friends.

We have filled 15 campsites, which includes the original 14 we had reserved plus an additional one, yet to be determined.  Several parties are sharing campsites.  If we need more campsites, we can get them; they just may not be the choice spots.  However, in general, all of the Hermit Island sites are very nice

On behalf of all of us in North America, Tom and I are pleased to welcome the European Wayfarer participants: the Bruneau family, Gilles, Jill & William from France; Elof & Karen Andersen from Denmark; Ton & Connie Jaspers from the Netherlands; Ray & Jill Scragg, and Ralph Roberts from England. We also extend a warm welcome to Jim & Linda Heffernan (North Carolina) and Gary & Stephanie Hirsch (Michigan) who, though from this side of the pond, are new Rally participants.  Every year we have been very blessed to have new members join the Rally.  This is what has made this event such a success.

Now that we've gotten this far along, we can begin the process of assigning campsites.  This will be based upon the choices you have submitted, but in some cases we may need to check back with you to let you know what remains available.  Those who have offered to serve as a buddy will be placed next to an overseas participant.  Otherwise we will proceed with selections based upon the order in which we received your registration.

Best wishes.........................Tom & Dick
