Subject: 2008 International Rally Update

Holiday Greetings, everyone,

This is just a quick up-date to let you know that the Hermit Island campsite reservation letter was mailed in last week with you reservation information.  I talked to the campground manager, Ronnie Wallace, and was assured that everything is in place.  They are very excited about having us back again.  My letter is attached.  Please review it ASAP for accuracy and let me know if I need to make any corrections.  Except for overseas visitors, all of you will be billed directly by Hermit Island Campground some time in January.

We want to welcome new participant, Anne Kell, from the UK as well as our old time participants, André & Monique Girard, to the rally. Anne has long been active in organizing cruising rallies in the UK, including the 2005 International Rally held in England. Except for Ralph Roberts and the Bruneaus, I'm still lacking registration forms from overseas folks.  Without complete information, I can't list home addresses and other useful information to share with the group.  ...  Please send me your information.  We still don't know for sure if Elof & Karen Andersen are going to be able to attend.

The participants list below has been updated to reflect the latest campsite information and the new members.

There are other rally-related topics that need to be addressed, such as getting a maximum number of Wayfarers to the rally, providing camping gear for overseas participants, and logistical issues related to boat dockage and mooring.  You will hearing more about these soon.

Hi Dick

Many thanks for agreeing to find a space for me on the International Rally next year. I am having difficulty filling in your registration form on line so I thought I would just put my details in an e-mail.

My home address is ... Ipswich, Suffolk ... e-mail the.kells@talk21.com

I normally sail W247 'Emma' and would love to bring her with me but....... So Den, my better half, is going to stay home and look after her while I explore the waters on the other side of the Atlantic.

My needs are few. I have a mini one person tent which I could bring with me but, by American standards, I suspect it might be seen more as a micro-tent. I will probably travel over with Ralph, Gill and Ray, but we will discuss that sometime in the New Year, I guess. So we will probably all stay together on the same camp site.

I look forward to meeting you next August.

Have a happy christmas,

Anne Kell

Hi Anne,

We are delighted to have you with us.  I believe you'll be suitably impressed by the grandeur and beauty of the Maine coast.  Hopefully the fog will stay away.  We can delve into the various details of camping arrangements a little later.  Whether it is best for you and Ralph to set up with the Scraggs all on one site or spread around so that others can be of help and assistance is worth discussing.  I had been considering that Ralph might do well by staying with one of the NA participants.  He knows many of them and they likewise know him.  You probably don't need to bring your tent, but again we can discuss that when we start looking into what is available regarding spare equipment within the group.  It is possible that being a single person your small tent will be the ideal thing.

I don't know if Ralph forwarded to you my rally up-date today so I'll do that now.

Hope that you and Den have an enjoyable Christmas.
