Re:  Wayfarer Group Campsite Reservations for August 9th through 16th 2008

 

Dear Mr. Wallace,

 

On August 21st of this year we met in your office to discuss making campsite reservations for next August to accommodate a group of dinghy sailors who are members of the US and Canadian Wayfarer organizations.  We have selected Hermit Island Campground for our International Wayfarer Cruising Rally next August.  Previously in 2005 we held a similar event at Hermit Island.  That gathering was a great success and we were warmly welcomed by the Hermit Island staff.  The Wayfarer is an internationally renowned 16 foot sailboat that is exceptionally seaworthy and ideally suited for the coastal waters of Maine.  Year 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the Wayfarer class.

 

As I relayed to you this morning there has been a strong response from the North American Wayfarer membership.  In addition we are expecting European participants coming from England, Holland, France and Scandinavia.  At our August meeting you agreed to set aside 14 campsites for this group.  Since then I have found that I needed to add 2 more, making for a total of 16 campsites.  The campsites we wish to reserve are:  East Tack Way nos. 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6; Branch nos. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 & 14; Harbor Grove no.2.  The reservation dates for all the campsites, with the one exception of Branch no. 7, are for arrival on Saturday, August 9, 2008 and departure on Saturday, August 16, 2008.  Branch no. 7 is for arrival on Thursday, August 7, 2008 and departure on Saturday, August 16, 2008.
