The race 3 countdown has
reached its final few seconds. Al and Marc (2nd from left) have discussed
their race plan: With conditions very much like those in race 2 where
the right side of the beat seemed to pay, they have decided to go with
an RC boat end start, where Al shouldn't have too much trouble bailing
out onto port tack early.

As Marc (3854) counts down the
final few seconds, Al has waited for Richard to move faster before
sheeting in, just in case Richard will cut the RC boat so close that Al
will get cut off. Mike Murto (2959) is wisely luffing his main to
slow down so that he won't risk getting wedged into the RC boat by Al.
Tony (4105) won't have much wind to work with off this start, but Ted
(991) is moving nicely and seems to have fairly clear air. Ted ended up
going below Dave (far right)
