Having rounded onto the final
beat with a fair cushion, Al will now hold port until Geoff (r) sails about half the distance
he was away from the mark when Al rounded. At that point, Al will tack,
and then tack again as Geoff rounds. In theory, that should put Al
directly between Geoff and the finish line (provided the beat is more
or less "square"). Richard still has the inside track on Joe, and of
course, there are still Dave and Jim to be considered, off to the left
somewhere? Unfortunately, our photographer did not capture any of what
promised to be an exciting battle for position and rounding at the
leeward mark.
