| Al and Marc (3854) have aced the
start at the slightly favoured windward end. In more wind than most of
can hold down, Dave and Kim (4782) have a pretty nice start as well,
since Al's backwind won't hurt them excessively. ... |

A starboard lift is bad news for
Dwight (5th from right), especially
if Al can force himself not to pinch and sail lower but faster to
"shift-proof" his lead over Dwight. If Al stays to windward and astern,
the next knock will take away all or much of his lead, but if he can
end up to windward (less) and ahead, even a knock won't do much for
Dwight. - click here

... with Uncle Al (red spi) and
Dwight (4606) battling it out for the lead. Keep an eye on John de Boer
(blue and green spi) who has had a sub-par first beat but will now
begin to thread his way through the fleet in an amazing come-back that
will take him and Dolores all the way back to 3rd place by the finish!!

| Hull speed weather. In this
wind, pretty much everyone will easily do hull speed downwind even
without a spinnaker, as Dave and Carol Hansman demonstrate, hanging
right in there with Al and Dwight as they pass the RC boat. |
