Good as things look for Marc and Julie here, Al decides to let Joanne (and SHADES!) get settled away for a bit on starboard.
...
The fact that our main competition for the Carling Trophy is just now rounding the mark also takes some of the pressure off.
...

Now Mike (l) has gybed back, and ...

Fine spinnaker work from Joanne who turns out to be a quick study aboard 3854 which is religiously glued to the rhumb line.
...

And so, we all continue to meander across Lake Conestoga on a lovely Sunday morning.

And the run goes on!

The SHADES spinny (red) comes down good and early. Al already realizes, that it'll be on the wrong side for the next hoist, but that will be a lesser evil than Al's other plan which was to gybe near the mark and then have Joanne take the spi down on the port side. Too much risk of the new crew getting into difficulties in a spot where rounding with the lead will pay huge dividends, and the thought of screwing up this great opportunity does not even bear thinking about!!
