A very close battle shaping up
over 8th
place: Christian Bovet (5128) can still get 8th ahead of
Søren Jonasen (4123) and Joel
Bøgh
(8278) if he can get buoy room on both of them.
Joel has recovered very well after
being
far down in the fleet starting the second beat! Well done, Joel!!

Mammut about to take 3rd
and showing
fine form...
..
|
|
... as is Mogens Just in 4th...
..
|
|
... and Poul Ammentorp in 6th
(although that spinnaker head wrinkle
might
be removable by letting off the spi halyard a couple of centimetres???)
..
|
|
Notice how stretching the
(spinnaker)
luff by lowering the pole has opened the 10212 spi leech nicely
as Søren Jensen and Annette
Hansen
cross the line in 7th place.
|
|
Today, the racing does not end
at the
finish line. With free fadøl awaiting the sailors, most of us
(like
Steen and Carina above) kept the spinnaker in perfect trim to get there
before Regatta Chairman, Jesper drank it all! Uncle Al and Anders took
this to extremes by spinnakering right into the small Farum harbour and
dousing the spi only two lengths from the dock while going at full
speed
in a gust. Luckily our Regatta Chairman, who is very protective about
his
Whistle, was too busy testing the øl to notice this
manoeuvre.

Another crew that knows the
value of
a good post-race beer. Note how Irene gives 100% of her concentration
to
the spinnaker while Poul can just see that beer keg from here!!
..
|
|
Will Søren (4123) manage
to get
past the veteran, Joel (8278)?
If these two get into a luffing match,
Christian
and Lone (5128) could still sneak into 8th.
..
|
|
But no - Joel luffs up after
picking
up speed and he and crew, Jon Kjartansson, hold on to take 8th ahead of
Søren and Lise Jonasen and Christian Bovet with Lone Holm Hansen
who complete the top 10. The UK team of Paul and Andrew Knowlson in Sidewinder
(9116) approach the leeward mark in the background on their
way to
a 13th...

|
|
... just behind these three who
are having
a serious fight over 11th. If you're expecting to have to sail high
right
after the gybe, you must make very sure that someone makes
sure
the spinnaker is pulled around to its new side during the gybe.
Otherwise
the spi fills on the wrong side and takes heaving to to a whole new
level
as it has here on 2042 and 4898. 10249 at least got the spi most of the
way around to leeward and will be in the best shape to come out of this
mess ahead of the other two. In fact Steen Schubert and Keld
Forchhammer
did nail down 11th ahead of Bo Christensen with Thomas Anderson while
Stephan
Nandrup-Bus with David Magnussen ended up DSQ (but I'm not sure why).
Completing
the top 15 were Mikael Mogensen with Esben Holst (14th) and Jacob
Knudsen
with Peter Kirkegaard. And special mention to Elisabeth and Ulla who
got
6301 off to the best start in this 36-boat fleet and looked so good
early
in the first beat but had everything go wrong after that and ended up a
disappointing 18th despite sailing well.
|
Best races: Other crews
making this
race their best of the series were
-
Jørgen Vekslund with Steen
Anthonsen who
completed a fine race in 20th
-
Claus Eriksen and Peter
Christoffersen who took
23rd place
-
Christian and Helge Larsen in 28th,
and
-
Gunnar Kondrup with Per Vilstrup
who were #31

Søren and Annette rush
ashore
in good form.

Christian and Lone looking
great as they
cross the line. They obviously have
much more wind than those poor boats
struggling
to keep their spinnakers filled in the background!

A few more fine boat portraits
from Christian
Friis to round out his fine performance at the shutter.
Above we have Stephan Nandrup-Bus and
David
Magnussen in 4898.

Looking fine in good old W2042 Fru
