Mikael Mogensen and Esben Holst
get the
same, lovely puff. Judging from the angle of their tiller
and rudder turbulence behind the boat,
they
have weather helm and should hike harder!

The only two I can identify
here are
Ton Jaspers (orange deck, left) and John and Mary in 3264.
|
|
An exciting run followed which was again dominated by the
need
to be inside at the leeward mark prior to the very short port tack
reach
to the finish. Holding their lead and capturing the Danish title once
again
were Anders Friis with Sune Sigsgaard. And very deserving, popular
winners
there were, too!! Congratulations!! The Ammentorps, Poul og Irene, came
back to take 2nd from Joel Bøgh and Jon Kjartansson who enjoyed
their best finish of the series in 3rd. Next, we had ...
|
|
... Per Larsen with Steen
Ammentorp.
..
|
|
Zipping along nicely on the
reach to
the finish are Uncle Al and Anders ...
..
|
|
... who nailed down a 5th.
..
|
|
A wave of thanks to the
Committee from
a happy Uncle Al.

A very nice come-back for
Mogens and
Helle who took a comfortable 6th. And you would pick Søren and
Lise
(4123, yellow spi) for 7th, ikke? But wait a moment and you'll see why
Søren doesn't look all that relaxed and confident...
..
|
|
While Mogens cruises along and
can relax,
the three boats off his transom - Bo Christensen (2042), Steen Schubert
(white spi behind Bo, and Stephan Nandrup-Bus (orange deck) - are all
inside
Søren and will have room if they can get there fast enough to
claim
it.

|
Ooops! Forgot about Steen and
Carina
in 9067. A lot to be learned from Steen and Carina's rounding: Carina
has
done a fine job keeping the spi perfectly trimmed - if she messes up
here,
four boats go by and a 7th becomes an 11th!! In a situation such as
this,
you must sail high after rounding, especially with the finish only 200
m. of reaching away - and Steen is doing this just they way he should.
Søren meanwhile (yellow deck behind Steen) just manages to get
around
before Bo (2042) and Stephan (red spi) can claim room, and takes 8th
behind
Steen and Carina. Stephan has the inside track on Bo and Steen Schubert
(extreme right)...
..
|

... and makes no mistakes in
taking 9th
place ahead of ...
..
|
|
Bo Christensen...
..
|
|
... and Steen Schubert.
..
|
|
Stephan relaxes and lets the
crew take
over. Very interesting tiller he has!
..
|
|
A good opportunity to pack the
spinnaker
for its starboard tack hoist on the first reach of the next race,
but don't take too long or we'll hit
the
shore! Joel Bøgh (left) resting up for race 7!
..
|
|
Meanwhile, Flemming and Hendrik
cruise
to a 12th-place finish while Christian and Lone (5128) are on their way
to 15th.
..
|
|
Following Ulla and Elisabeth
across the
line in 14th place are Søren Jensen and Annette Hansen.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, this
will
be their drop!
..
|
|
Christian and Lone show perfect
form
as they approach the line with Mr. Fogh (6137) in the background.
..
|
|
|
Also looking very nice as they
near a
16th are Jacob and Peter.
|
Best races: Other teams
making this
race their best of the series were
-
Torben Haslund and Søren
Christensen with
a very fine 17th
-
Jørgen Øllgaard with
Anders Rytter
had by far their best race with a 20th
-
as did Elof and Karen Andersen in
21st
