Joel Bøgh (8278) has
just rounded
in 4th place and balances the boat while crew, Jon, cleans up after the
spinnaker. Christian (5128) will be in good shape provided he doesn't
lose
all his wind before the two-length circle. On the far left,
Søren
is sailing higher and faster and coming in on starboard (spi still
ripped),
and both Steen Schubert (green shirt) and Per Larsen (red outfit) on
port
will need to keep clear.

|
Søren Jonasen in 4123
must be
relieved that he got around ahead of this mess (in 5th).
The extra speed has given Søren
Jensen
(10212) an inside overlap on Steen and Per.

|
Per Christoffersen and Joakim
Gundel
in perfect spinnaker form and
looking very peaceful just behind the
big
mess at the mark...
...
|
|
... where Christian Bovet (far
right)
appears to have reached safety at the mark but has a big bunch blocking
his wind. Three boats visible inside Bo Christensen (light blue deck):
(l to r) Stephan Nandrup-Bus, Mogens Just and (barely
visible) Søren
Jensen.

|
|
It's hard to believe that
Søren
(10212) and Stephan (4698) got their overlap in time to be entitled to
room. Christian (standing) certainly doesn't seem to think so. This is
where it pays to inform the guys coming in too late: "There will be no
room here!!" - and if they still don't believe you, you let them hit
you
and run them over the mark. At least that way, you don't die alone!
..
|
|
Steen Schubert (l) has
the inside
track here on Mogens and Bo (standing)
while Stephan (r) is now in
the best
spot and will round just ahead of ...
..
|
|
... Søren Jensen (l).
Miraculously,
Gunnar Petersen has come in from the outside and found enough room to
squeeze
between Søren and the mark. Just behind him is Steen
Schubert
just finishing his gybe and spi takedown while John Friis in Lisen
is hoping he'll get room to round. Also waiting his turn on the far
right
is Per Larsen.
|
|
Leaving it all behind is
Stephan Nandrup-Bus
who heads for the right side in a nice puff.
..
|
|
Gunnar Petersen and
Jørgen Svane
in 4955 have amazingly gone right through Søren Jensen's (10212)
backwind
and now have a lift that Søren
did
not get.
..
|
|
Mogens tacks to get clear air
which will
free Steen Schubert (10249) to tack as well.
..
|
|
Per Larsen (9733) tacks to go
left and
is followed by...
..
|
|
... poor Christian Bovet who
lost about
six boats on that rounding. Unless the lift holds that Christian
appears
to have, he should have waited until he's out of Per's backwind. Per
Christoffersen
(4633) continues to the right.
..
|
|
While Per concentrates on on
what's ahead,
and steering fast,
Steen checks to see what other parts of
the
course are getting.
..
|
|
Behind Per and Steen,
Jørgen Øllgaard
(sitting too far aft in 5250, and heeling too much) nears the end of
the
run,
and Thomas Raun-Petersen with Leila
Jensen
(6617) starts the beat.
..
|
|
Team Tumle (4163)
prepares to
gybe while Jacob Knudsen (1130) has rounded
just ahead of Elisabeth Geday (6301)
and
Paul Knowlson.
..
|
|
Going upwind, Per and Steen
feel a lot
more breeze than
Claus Eriksen and Peter Christoffersen
who
are running in 4994.
..
|
|
Per Christoffersen and Joakim
Gundel
have moved very well and are now coming in from the right
ahead of both Mogens Just (4645) and
Steen
Schubert (10249).
..
|
|
Steen and Keld may have 10249
heeling
a bit much here - but only Steen will know for sure
since he can feel whether or not he has
too
much weather helm.
