PRO, Bruce Nowak, bemoans the poor sailing weather that we ...
...

... got this weekend, but thanks the volunteers who ...
...

... worked on his committees.
...

Serious talk of some sort from ...
...

... Bruce who dressed to help us find the RC boat in case we did ...
...

...go out in the fog!
...

Ryan Mabie was DFL (as my Junior sailors used to say) among the Sunfish. This was a "series" in which anyone could have finished last, what with the one race we did complete having been rather flukey. Indeed, there was a consolation prize for each last-place boat: a lovely Yachtwurst.
...

Oddly enough, Ryan wasn't keen to have his moment of glory immortalized in pixels.

Sunfish 3rd: Rob Stephenson

Jim Towler accepts the runner-up plaque from Regatta Chair, Mike Smith (l).

The Sunfish winner: Dan Norton

In his first regatta ever, Mike Austerberry captured the Wayfarer Yachtwurst without even placing last, since the real last-place finisher had departed early and was thus DSQ from his prize for being the wurst finisher.  ;)
...

Wayfarer 3rd went to just retired USWA Commodore ...
...

... Mike Anspach. Crewing for Mike was Mark Murton who had to leave early. New W owner, Mark, came down all the way from Cadillac, MI, to meet some fellow Wayfarers and was promptly pressed into service.
...

In their first year of sailing Wayfarer, Gary and Stephanie Hirsch of St. Joseph, MI, have been cruising.
But this weekend, they decided to give racing a try and scored an impressive 2nd among the five W's.
...

Earlier this year, Gary's W1321 had already tested the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, Casco Bay in Maine and Traverse Bay. What a fine addition to our Class!
...

Repeating as Wayfarer winners were Joe DeBrincat and Brian Johnson (r).
