306a   When the dump is intentional, it's not all that easy to initiate.
........

But it can be accomplished.
........

c     As Richard rights the boat, the crew should let him/herself be scooped into the boat as it rights.
........

Almost perfect! With good judgement, the boat-righter can flop into the boat as it comes up.
Admittedly, I have never done this with the crew being scooped up at the same time.
........

Note how the boat is not moving forward. The board should by now be full up. In this condition (sideways to wind, no forward motion and no board), the boat is not capsize-prone which means that the person still in the water could easily slide in or be hauled over the low side (starboard side above). In fact, if necessary, the boat could be heeled even more to facilitate access.
........

Here, the guy already in the boat should probably stand up, hold onto the starboard shroud, and happily let the boat heel enough to let Richard get back inside with the greatest of ease. Above, the "crew" does not look mobile enough to be ready to deal with all eventualities.
........

Note how high these new Hartleys float right after recovery  :)
........

As the water continues to exit through the transom flaps and bailers, they are off again almost immediately  :)
........

"Shall we try a death roll now??" (capsize to windward on a dead run)
........

Perhaps not.

Meanwhile, Don Longmire (and others) went sightseeing.    - click here for larger image

The ubiquitous osprey are very impressive. Indeed a former colleague sent me the following video link which is very well worth watching:

<>Subject: INCREDIBLE PREDATOR OSPREY.

Ospreys are just fantastic!! But I have never seen them do anything approaching these dives! I've never seen a bird shake water off like a dog does - wouldn't want to get in the way of him when he's got his eyes locked and his talons in the "load" position!

There are 3 sequences in this one video:
1st sequence he catches half a dozen fish in one strike.
2nd sequence he plunges talons into deep water right to the bottom to grab his prey.
3rd sequence he captures a big old fat fish that looks as if it weighs more than he does!

This is incredible to watch (best viewed in full screen mode).
